Song Story:
Splendido. Ma chi cazz'è?
The first song I wrote in the New Millennium, "Joe The Killer" was born on a chord sequence I had been toying with for a very long time. I was just thinkig about poor Joe drinking his beer in a smokey bar, ready to face his sad destiny. In a few words, Joe is waiting for Sister Death and tells us something about him. Interesting notes for the best fans:
1) the electric piano solo is "Mela Nera"'s melody
2) in the song's ending, while the electric piano plays "Mela Nera" (but on a different scale), the organ plays another song of mine. The first who will recognize it will receive a free copy of "Zenith".

My name is Joe, the one I knowI'm just a jobless killer with no place to go
I'm still alive and kicking like the little child
they used to blow, but I know
This one's my day, I'm going to live my life and die
this awful way
My time is near, I see things clear, my arm is ill,
I drink my beer for you, dear
This day is mine
I'm going to live in misery and hold the line
How will I know? What can I say?
My life is aging and I'm here just for today
My gun still smokes
I spend my days just making love and wasting time
on and on
and I'm still praying
I'm going to meet my sister Death this awful way
And I'm still mine
I'm going to live in misery and hold the line
and hold the line
How will I know? What can I say?
My life is aging and I'm here but not today
My time is near
I see things clear, my arm is ill, I drink my beer
for you, dear
and I'm still praying
I'm going to meet my sister Death this awful way
And I'm still mine
I'm going to die in misery and hold the line
and hold the line

...LB corrals jazz, rock and funk as a back drop for his unique voice, which in this tune is like David Bowie's if performing in a surreal nightclub where all standards are tweaked by immeasurable, yet distinct, Warholesque touches. Not to make "Joe The Killer"'s sound like it is anything but pure pop, but Bygon's approach, thankfully, teeters on the brink of going into the strange world of pop art with all of its regalia. ...The song has a cool, smooth edge, featuring good solid keyboard work; an interesting jazz, bass line and solid percussion. Cam Bastedo
